Apple iPhone 17 Charging Speed Review

The Apple iPhone 17 series all support fast charging function. According to actual testing, the iPhone 17 Pro can be charged to 39% in 15 minutes, 67% in 30 minutes, 82% in 45 minutes, and fully charged in just 1 hour and 16 minutes. In contrast, the charging speed of iPhone Air is slower: only 54% in 30 minutes, and it takes 1 hour and 36 minutes to fully charge. Compared to the iPhone 16 Pro, the iPhone 17 Pro, which has significantly increased battery capacity, can charge up from 58% to 67% in 30 minutes. The average charging time for all models in the series has been reduced by about 25 minutes compared to the previous generation.

Apple has also launched a 40W dynamic power adapter (supporting 60W peak), but actual testing has shown that users do not need to purchase this accessory specifically. Third party USB-C PD chargers can achieve charging speeds close to 36W and have good compatibility. It is worth noting that the iPhone 17 series only supports the AVS (Adjustable Voltage Supply) protocol in the USB PD 3.2 standard, rather than the PPS (Programmable Power Supply) protocol commonly used in Android flagships. This means that the iPhone cannot utilize PPS’s real-time voltage optimization, but can still achieve fast charging through the standard PD protocol.
