How to replace the battery of iPhone 17 Pro?

Replacing the iPhone 17 Pro battery requires removing the entire screen, which is a complex process that involves unscrewing multiple screws and disconnecting the wiring. It is recommended to prioritize Apple’s official repair service or use its own repair tools.

Renowned American institution iFixit disassembles iPhone 17 Pro. During the disassembly process, the bottom structure of the iPhone 17 Pro was quite complex. Apple cancelled the previous dual entry design that could be disassembled from both sides. Now, the screen must be removed to replace the battery, camera module, and USB-C interface. Specifically, removing the USB-C interface requires tightening 22 screws, which iFixit considers “quite cumbersome”. IFixit also tested whether the iPhone 17 Pro is easy to scratch in the video. They used a microscope and a 4-level Mohs hardness tester for actual testing. Simply put, the camera module area of the iPhone 17 Pro is relatively easy to scratch.

Compared with the iPhone 16 Pro, the maintainability of the iPhone 17 Pro has decreased, and the maintainability of the current 17 Pro is slightly lower than that of the iPhone Air. However, Apple has provided an official repair manual, and according to disassembly, engineers have already considered repair requirements when designing the phone. Therefore, iFixit gave the iPhone 17 Pro a maintainability score of 7 out of 10.
