Most flagship smartphones in China choose the OmniVision sensor

Recently, a domestic CMOS image sensor company has frequently appeared, which is OmniVision, a subsidiary of Weil Corporation and the world’s third-largest CMOS image sensor company.

Once upon a time, the image sensors of flagship phones were mainly provided by Sony and Samsung, and this was also a selling point. Products from domestic sensor companies such as OmniVision could only be applied in low-end phones. In the past year, Haowei Technology’s CMOS image sensor has increasingly appeared as the main camera in flagship phones of domestic companies such as Xiaomi and Honor.

OmniVision、 Gekewei and STMicroelectronics are the top 3 companies representing China’s image sensor strength, and the three companies have almost “joined forces” to share all the market share of domestic image sensor chips. In 1985, Yu Renrong, the founder of OmniVision, enrolled in the EE85 class of the 85th grade of the Department of Wireless Communications (now the Department of Electronic Engineering) at Tsinghua University and graduated successfully.
